Our primary objective is to create a sustainable organic produce farm and market for the Feldpausch family. We want to start with small goals, creating a profit off of successful sales in local farmers markets and becoming certified organic.
In order to achieve our goals we must begin with a profitable business. In order to measure the success/failure of our organizaton, we expect to make a profit break even in the 4th year of the companies existance, and begin to make a profit by the 6th year in business. The first three years will require a lot of investments into land, equipment, organic certification, and the marketing budget, so we do not plan to begin making a profit until the 5th or6th year of business. We also plan to increase our total market share of the organic produce market in Ingham County by 4% in the 5th year of the companies existence.
Our future goals are to either sell produce in retail food stores and/or create a non-profit venture to supply organic produce to local school districts and low income households. One way this goal may be accomplished is through creating a Community Supported Agriculture group committed to these segments, and creative marketing in low-income communities.
We plan to create awareness in the local community about the benefits of purchasing and consuming organic produce, including environmental and health reasons. We will do this through creative marketing and advertising campaigns, promotional informational events with free give-a-ways, and possibly a collaborated campaign with other local organic farmers.
